We are often asked why should someone register and what does one
get for their registration payment. The vendor sale area is open
to the public. Anyone can come and shop. Why pay to register?
Shhh, here is a secret. We want your money. Yep, we put on this
event to raise money for greyhound adoption. We are not kidding.
We attempt to put in enough activities so that you believe you are
getting your money's worth and we walk away with money to support
our greyhound programs. He, he, he. Aren't we devious? We like to
think we are devious in a good way.
It takes money to put on the event. Here are some facts about
the event.
- The event takes over 9 months to plan and organize. Many hours
a week for those of us doing the work.
- The event exists to raise money for Greyhound Adoption efforts
for the Triangle Greyhound Society (TGS), Keystone Greyhound/GPA
and the other organizations who are vendors at the event.
- TGS, the group running the event, only charges vendors enough
to cover the expenses related to the physical environment in the
vendor area (tent rentals, dumpster rental, security to name a
few of the items).
- Your attendance payment covers all of the surrounding costs
of running the event (insurance, production of attendee booklets
and signs, mailing/shipping expenses, rental of locations for
socials), and provides valuable funding for TGS, a non-profit
organization. This event is our primary source of funding.
- By shopping at the event, you will be providing funds
to many vendors that support greyhound adoption efforts. A very
worthy thing to do. TGS sure would like a chance for a portion
of your money.
- By not registering, you restrict yourself to shopping and miss
out in participating in other activities. Shopping is open to
the general public. Watching the rest of us have fun doing the
other activities is open to the public also. We can't police all
of the activities and don't intend to do so. We do spot check
some activities and enforce "attendee only" at the seminars
and participating in the greyhound games.
- Contributions to TGS may be tax deductible to extent allowed
by current tax laws.
- $15 can buy dinner for one at a country style buffet and a large
bottle of antacid, or purchase 1 movie ticket (movie duration:
2 hours), a large box of popcorn and a large drink
or it
can go to support efforts to save the life of a greyhound and
keep this event running.
We hope you will consider joining us this year. If you decide not
to register and choose to come up to shop, we hope you have a great
time and find lots of bargains and spend oodles of money. Please
consider stopping by the TGS tent and leaving a donation. We are
grateful for any donation we receive.
